Switzerland 10-Day Itinerary
This trip was the ultimate mix of adventure, relaxation, and those classic Swiss landscapes you see in postcards — towering peaks, sparkling lakes, charming towns, and chocolate (of course). Here’s exactly how we spent 10 magical days exploring Switzerland.
Day 1–2: Lucerne – Wooden Bridges & Lakeside Charm
We landed in Zurich bright and early and jumped straight into our adventure by taking the train to Lucerne. The town felt straight out of a painting with its colorful buildings, winding streets, and mountain views everywhere we turned.
We visited the iconic Chapel Bridge, the oldest wooden bridge in Switzerland, dating back to the 14th century. It was the perfect introduction to Swiss charm. After settling in, we spent the day wandering along the lake, enjoying our first tastes of Swiss food, and adjusting to the time change.
The following day was pure magic — we took a boat ride across Lake Lucerne, soaking in mountain views from the water. From there, we climbed aboard the iconic cogwheel train up Mt. Rigi. Riding with the windows open, feeling the crisp alpine air, and seeing the endless layers of mountains was unforgettable. To finish the day, we visited the Bürgenstock Hotel Spa for a relaxing experience with views that felt unreal.
Day 3: Interlaken – Where Lakes Meet Mountains
Next stop: Interlaken. Nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, Interlaken gave us everything we imagined Switzerland would be. We took the funicular up to Harder Kulm for sweeping views over both lakes and the surrounding peaks.
Later, we kayaked on Lake Brienz, gliding through calm, turquoise water while surrounded by towering mountains. It was one of those moments that felt like it could only happen in Switzerland.
Day 4–6: Lauterbrunnen Valley & Grindelwald
We spent the next few days exploring Lauterbrunnen and nearby mountain towns. Lauterbrunnen is the definition of a fairytale valley — steep cliffs, wildflowers, and waterfalls at every turn.
We visited Staubbach Falls, which plunges from the cliffs right above the village, and Trümmelbach Falls, where glacier water thunders through underground caves and tunnels. Hiking through the meadows with the sound of rushing water around every corner felt like a dream.
We also made time for a day trip to Grindelwald, a mountain village with stunning views and a charming alpine vibe. Whether you want to hike, wander, or just enjoy the atmosphere, Grindelwald is worth the visit.
Day 7: Zermatt – The Iconic Matterhorn
We couldn’t visit Switzerland without seeing the Matterhorn, so we made our way to Zermatt. The town is full of cozy cafes, shops, and cobblestone streets, all set against the dramatic backdrop of Switzerland’s most famous mountain.
We took the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise cable car to the top, where the views were absolutely breathtaking — endless snow-capped peaks and the Matterhorn standing tall. Zermatt had that perfect alpine town vibe, making it one of our favorite stops.
Day 8–9: Zurich – Chocolate & City Life
To finish our trip, we spent two nights in Zurich, where we slowed down, explored the old town, and of course, indulged in chocolate. One of the highlights was visiting the Lindt Home of Chocolate Museum, which was both delicious and fun.
Zurich was the perfect place to end the trip — relaxing, charming, and full of good food, boutique shops, and riverside walks.
Day 10: Homebound
With full hearts and camera rolls, we caught our flight home, already dreaming of our next trip back.
